Mobius kicks off 25th anniversary with record performance

By Bateleur
Johannesburg, 13 Sept 2006

Mobius Management Systems, a leading provider of integrated solutions for content and records management, has kicked off a year-long celebration of its 25th anniversary with record-breaking revenues in its recently-closed fiscal year.

Founded in 1981 by current CEO Mitchell Gross and Joseph Albracht, Mobius pioneered software for high-volume information archiving and retrieval and has been a dominating presence in that market throughout its history. With a 25-year record of unwavering stability and groundbreaking technology, Mobius has developed strong relationships with leading companies across a wide range of industries. In fiscal year 2006, ended 30 June, that traditionally continued with record-high revenues, solid profitability and new product introductions that position the company for growth in fiscal year 2007 and beyond.

June Julyan, Mobius product manager of Bateleur Software, says: "From the outset, Mobius`s goal has been to help companies deal with a rising tide of digital information that may be scattered across the globe in disparate repositories, on different platforms and in many different formats. By integrating information across the enterprise and managing its retention and disposition, Mobius and Bateleur help customers reduce operating costs, streamline critical business processes, and protect vital information assets." Bateleur Software is the official South African representative of Mobius.

"When we talk about protecting information assets, we mean more than disaster recovery," Julyan says. "We also mean protection from hardware platform and media obsolescence. Over the past 25 years, Mobius`s customers have moved to new hardware and storage platforms but because the software is hardware- and device-independent, they have had uninterrupted access to their information."

Mobius solutions manage the entire lifecycle of information - from the moment it is created until it is no longer needed - and guarantee its long-term integrity and availability, both to meet the operational needs of the business and to ensure legal and regulatory compliance. Mobius`s flagship product, ViewDirect, the leading high-performance archive manager, captures, indexes, stores, transforms, delivers and disposes of digital information from any source. It functions as both a long-term repository and a real-time engine for Web delivery of document-based content. ViewDirect has consistently provided the functionality, reliability and continuity needed to support large-scale, mission-critical applications.

Recent product introductions leverage Mobius`s core technology to deliver solutions that address organisations` most compelling needs to reduce costs, improve productivity and meet compliance requirements:

* ViewDirect Records Manager breaks new ground by delivering an enterprise-level solution for managing all corporate records, including e-mail, from capture to processing, archiving, retention, holding and final disposition. A built-in - not bolted-on - capability of ViewDirect, Records Manager enables high-volume archiving and integration of records and content of any type from any source and is certified to the DoD 5015.2 electronic records management.
* TCI is a `next-generation` Web standards-based integration facility that delivers seamless, uniform access to digital information of any type stored anywhere in the enterprise. It gives authorised users a single, consistent interface to multiple, disparate repositories, databases and file systems and delivers content to business-critical applications.
* ABS for Spreadsheet Compliance reduces the risk of errors in financial reporting by centralising and managing the lifecycle of enterprise spreadsheets. This powerful tool is rapidly becoming a vital component of any organisation`s strategy to deploy systematic controls that improve the integrity of critical corporate data.

"Mobius continues to leverage its core strengths to meet changing customer requirements," Julyan says. "Most notably, Mobius delivers the lowest cost solution to ensure the long-term integrity and availability of critical information assets to support compliance, mission-critical operations and content-enabled applications."
