Momentum Southern Life builds its "new" network in record time

Momentum Southern Life has redesigned and rebuilt its "new" network in record time since its merger with Southern Life a year ago. With probably one of the most complex networks in the country, Momentum Southern Life was able to achieve its goal with the help of outsource company Advanced Systems Integration (ASI) who assisted with the network and other specialised consulting services.

According to Momentum Southern Life network coordinator Darryl Harding, the Company`s highly skilled IT division with the assistance of ASI made this all possible. "We realise that the entire company is dependent on IT services and we pride ourselves that we are able to achieve more with less resources. The developers were set the challenge of completing the merge of and systems in record time and it was the responsibility of the Network department to design and build an infrastructure that would facilitate this. We also took advantage of the opportunity to modernise functionality and improve security and mail services. Due to the criticality of the project, ASI were selected to assist with the implementation - we could not afford any mishaps or oversights. With long hours, the dedication of our staff and the assistance of ASI, we were able to achieve this within the required time-frames."

The fact that ASI has provided a wide range of networking management services to the industry for many years was critical in Momentum Southern Life`s decision to outsource these services to ASI. ASI director Carlos Mendes says such specialised services are vital for organisations with mission critical operations. "Downtime is catastrophic but it can be avoided if forward planning is carried out, by actively monitoring, analysing network statistics. Faults may be pre-empted and disaster avoided in time, if the network is regularly monitored for errors and traffic congestion.
