International television and PC monitor vendor AOC has named SA its new frontier.

The company started operations in SA this week, with Tony Yu as business development manager to run this new branch.

AOC says since it has a firm foothold in the Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), it decided to enter Africa.

SA is Africa's biggest IT market, according to AOC, and so it hopes Yu will actively expand the South African operation.

He will be based in Johannesburg and his key responsibilities include expanding the existing channel network, boosting sales, and enhancing product and brand visibility.

Yu will also work closely with AOC's distributors to expand its presence within the country.

AOC says Yu has been part of the IT channel in SA for nearly 20 years. In his previous assignments, he was COO of Golden Nest Electronics, and has worked with other major IT distribution companies like Mustek Electronics, Compucomp, and Esquire Technology.

“We are pleased to welcome Tony on board AOC, and with his specialisation in developing channel, channel sales and the knowledge of the South African market, we are sure to expand our reach across SA at a much faster pace,” says Brian Liu, VP of sales at AOC.

AOC has operations in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, and is expanding into other regions within the Middle East, Africa, CIS and Central Asia.
