Navision Software recently hosted its Spring Conference for Navision Solution Centres (NSC`s), an annual event which is aimed at driving its reseller market in Southern Africa. Showing a 50 percent increase in resellers over the past year and with more than 60 delegates attending this year`s conference, Navision is excited by uptake of its products in Southern Africa.
According to Navision managing director Keith Mullan, the success of the conference is a clear indication of Navision`s success over the past year, both locally and globally. "We have experienced an excellent year in South Africa and the rest of Africa. More and more resellers are opting to sell our product because we have a reputation for being first-to-market with advanced technologies in enterprise business solutions and our goal is to achieve long-term viability by becoming the provider of the leading standard."
Mullan says there are currently over 2 500 accounting and ERP vendors worldwide. He predicts that by the year 2003 there will only be a handful of vendors in this arena. "This may, at first glance, seem like an outrageous projection but remember the word-processing development cycle. Ten years ago, there were a multitude of vendors in that market. Vendors were not, however, able to amass the volume necessary to push their technology to the edge - and thus deliver what the market was asking for - and now only a couple of these vendors are left."
"The consolidation process in the application market has been more complicated due to specific country needs and has therefore taken longer. Now that these early hurdles have been cleared, things are really going to take off.
"An important point is that Navision Software is dedicated to providing value to all parties involved, all the way from the customers to our shareholders. Seen from another perspective, our organisation shows a healthy profit. Since 1987, we have had double digit growth and turned a profit each year. In fact, Navision Software`s five year Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) runs at a rate of 62 percent. That is about twice that of the market in general," he added.
Navision Software`s latest figures confirm this trends increasing momentum. For the first half of the 98/99 fiscal year, Navision Software enjoyed a 97 percent growth in revenues and announced it`s intention to go public.
Mullan stresses that IDC has segmented the total market into 5 distinct segments and that Navision Software has a clear focus on the middle market. "Everything from our distribution/channel strategy to our product strategy is specifically designed to fit the needs of customers in this particular market."
"IDC`s figures from 97` already show that Navision Software has a significant position on the middle market. It is also worth noting that Navision Software is the only vendor with a top-20 ranking in three consecutive market segments, and that only two other European vendors (Sage and SAP) have a top-20 ranking in same segments as Navision Software.
Navision Software already has a long and solid track record for innovation and industry leadership. All of our resources are focused on developing software for enterprise management with the end user as the focal point.
"To keep our mission synchronised with the high-speed technology cycle found in today`s software world, we have created an innovation strategy. Our base technology in accounting and business management is our strength, it is this core competency that will be our solid backbone in the fight for technological gains," says Mullan.
"Our local Navision Software office is a distribution company and is 100 percent committed to training, supporting and certifying our NSC`s - we will ensure that our customers are always able to find a qualified NSC, with a solid knowledge of their business," he concludes.
At the conference, it was clear that Navision has a serious focus on sales and implementation methodologies. George Brown of Salesworks, Vancouver, discussed these methodologies and due to huge demand from the NSC`s, Navision and Salesworks will be hosting a two-week conference for its resellers in November this year and February next year to deal with issues in more detail.
