More success for NetTrace cost centre management

Johannesburg, 08 Sep 2005

NetTrace (Pty) Ltd has been selected by Investec Private Bank to fulfil the role of inventory management, lease management and cost centre management of its computer workstations.

NetTrace is the exclusive distributor of Absolute Software Corporation`s (a Canadian company) Computrace theft recovery solution and security products in Africa. It has combined the unique internationally patented technology with locally developed database integration solutions, to provide an innovative PC inventory and lease management package.

Investec has identified NetTrace`s specialised ability to setup simple processes that ensures accurate inventory is maintained for the complete lifecycle of computer assets. NetTrace has also provided a facility for Investec to link its ERP system directly to the assets located out in the field.

Furthermore, database integration facilitated by NetTrace between its lease vendor, RentWorks, and the customer`s real-time computer inventory, provide Investec`s cost centre managers with accurate information about how much their PC fleeting is costing them on a quarterly basis.

Due to the dynamic nature of the product and processes set-up inside the business, the system will adapt to the ever-changing PC asset fleet on a daily basis. Cost centres will now be billed only for what they use, and financial supervisors as well as the cost centre managers themselves, are now able to double-check each other.

Robin Tucker and Diane Gorgulho (Financial Administrator) have been the key drivers behind spearheading the solution at Investec Private Bank. NetTrace offers a unique product in the marketplace when it comes to lease management. Furthermore, this solution is sold as a standard by RentWorks. Unlike other products, which are more of a box-drop style, NetTrace provides a continuous service-based process solution in which it hosts the entire backend operation.

Additionally, it offers an analysis layer that sits above the larger raw data layer. "This ensures you can extract valuable information from your data and keep current and up-to-date with minimal effort," says Gorgulho.

Investec Private Bank has chosen to be a test-bed for the leasing solution with RentWorks, and through this, is able to ascertain an accurate picture (all the way down to the software licensing and warrantee) about how much a workstation is costing the business.

"At Investec, we realise that not tracking your leased assets can become problem at the end of lease term, when the assets are due back. With NetTrace, we now know where our assets are and who is using them and can manage them effectively," says Gorgulho. There are plans to deploy this simple, yet effective, product throughout SA and other regions around the world.
