The redeveloped Morningside Shopping Centre, on the corner of Rivonia and Outspan Roads, in Morningside, is now open, with nearly all its retailers selecting secured wireless communications to process debit and credit card transactions to trade.
“XLink modems connect retailers to banks for fund clearance using the major cellphone networks, instead of shop owners having to wait for landline installations to process card-based purchases,” explains Carl Larsen, national sales manager of local Sandton company, XLink Communications, and Morningside resident, whose company pioneered wireless-based communications in South Africa.
Larsen assured Annie Philippeos, Morningside Shopping Centre manager, that XLink's solution aligns with the centre's vision to maintain high service levels to shoppers.
XLink's operations made headlines when the company initially launched a low-cost solution that promised to get any shop up-and-running to process transactions at a fixed cost, instead of charging per transaction. The company processes in excess of 12 million transactions per month.
