Mortgage SA is a leading bond originator in the South African market with head offices in Cape Town. The company made a decision to standardise as much of its architecture as possible on Oracle solutions and is in now in the process of deploying Oracle applications throughout the organisation.
"The decision to go with Oracle solutions has been in place for some time. Now we are executing on this decision," explains Stan Belikoff, Manager: Strategic Business Enablement for Mortgage SA. "This was a strategic decision to go with a single vendor environment as far as possible and Oracle was chosen as a software provider, including database, middleware and applications. Going forward, the commitment is to analyse what is possible from an Oracle perspective and implement accordingly."
Part of the reason why Oracle is able to provide on this level is because the Oracle stack is the most complete. With environments for human capital management, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management and many more, all using the Oracle Database, a fully integrated environment with advanced business intelligence can be achieved - backed with true SOA methodology.
"There is a strong focus on service orientated architecture in Mortgage SA's environment," says Belikoff. "In this regard we use Oracle software alongside some third party solutions and custom applications that all run in the Oracle stack thanks to open standards."
Mortgage SA is currently in the process of rolling out Oracle applications. "We are busy with CRM applications," affirms Belikoff. "And it will probably take a good three years to then roll out modules across the E-Business Suite. From a custom application perspective, we are migrating these into the Oracle environment using Oracle's SOA Technology"
The Mortgage SA environment is also very mature in terms of Fusion Middleware. "We are far down the path with middleware deployments," says Belikoff, "and the intention is to include more components as we go on."
Says Michelle Beetar, financial services director for Oracle, "Mortgage SA is on the leading edge in terms of Oracle strategy, rolling out the very latest Oracle technology. It is the first customer to deploy Oracle E-Business Suite 12 in South Africa."
She says that the fact that a leading financial services provider has chosen to implement the solution means that the latest version of the software is stable and secure enough to be banked on.
"Mortgage SA is a leading financial institution," she affirms. "And it is showing how business strategy can be enabled through the use of Oracle technology. With a mature methodology for SOA implementation, a complete applications footprint and robust stack with full integration based on open standards, Oracle is able to provide the leading solutions in the Financial Services space."
