Black-empowered and JSE-listed Morvest Business Group - a leading provider of business support services (including professional services and outsourcing) and ICT solutions - further cemented its foothold in Nigeria with a second formal launch of its full capability and services offering in Abuja, on 20 September 2011.
Nigerian Honourable Minister of Communications and Technology, Omobola Johnson, attended the event as guest speaker. This follows the group's introductory launch in Lagos earlier in the year.
Both launch events have successfully built on Morvest's established presence in the country since 2005, showcasing the group's diverse product and services range across professional services, outsourcing and ICT solutions.
Group CEO Mohammed Varachia says Morvest's expansion strategy is focused on increasing its investment in Nigeria, through partnering with local Nigerian companies and government. “Our objective is to work with the Nigerian government, parastatals and private companies to help meet their local goals by harnessing our expertise to their strategic priorities. We believe we can extensively contribute towards the Nigeria 20:2020 Vision drive, to be among the top 20 economies in the world by 2020, using and creating a technology driven economy with business intelligence as the primary focus.”
Originally Morvest's offering in Nigeria was limited to SIM and smart card voucher production for the mobile industry, operated through Morvest Premium Ideas, a specialist packaging, fulfilment and secure print services company. In June 2011, Morvest opened Morvest Nigeria under the leadership of Chairman Fabian Ajogwu SAN (Senior Advocates of Nigeria) and local Managing Director Louw Cilliers, introducing engineering enterprise software to the local energy sector.
This is provided by Morvest's subsidiary, Intergraph, the world's largest supplier of specialist power, plant and marine software. Additionally, Morvest is now introducing the following services into the Nigerian market:
ICT solutions:
* Oracle (HR, Financial Systems);
* Microsoft (Mobile Application Solutions, Sharepoint and CRM);
* Medical Health Claims Administration System; and
* TeleMedicine Protocols.
Information intelligence:

Omobola Johnson says the Nigerian launch of Morvest's full service offering came at the perfect time: “Morvest's strategic intent is perfectly aligned with our objectives, involving increasing value-added services, skills transfer and job creation through strategic partnerships with international companies in the ICT and communications industries.”
To date, Morvest has invested over $10 million dollars in stimulating the Nigerian economy.
Morvest has a staff complement of over 2 000 with offices in South Africa, Nigeria, Mozambique, India and the USA. The Morvest Nigeria head office is situated at Kenna Place, Oniru Estate, Victoria Island, Lagos.
