Motorola buys workflow provider
Cellular company Motorola Mobility acquired SunUp Digital Systems, a small provider of workflow software for video service providers, marking its fourth acquisition in the last six months, writes Multi Channel.
The SunUp software rapidly automates tasks and unifies subsystems with a comprehensive set of modular, open standards-based applications for content, service, business process and workflow management.
Motorola Mobility plans to integrate the SunUp software into its Medios software platform, to provide the ability to enforce content rights and manage live content across multiple screens.
According to IPTV News, consumers are increasingly using companion devices to augment and personalise their entertainment experience.
John Burke, senior VP and GM of Converged Experiences at Motorola Mobility, says with the acquisition of SunUp, Motorola Mobility strengthens its ability to enable service providers to rapidly create and manage advanced revenue-generating video services across multiple screens.
Motorola Mobility says it will integrate SunUp's technology into its Motorola Medios software platform, offering capabilities like content rights enforcement and multi-screen live content management, reports Fierce Mobile Content.
In late February, Motorola Mobility made an unspecified strategic investment in Catch Media, provider of the Play Anywhere digital rights locker platform.
Play Anywhere's registry, tracking, routing and clearinghouse technology promises retailers, carriers and consumer electronics manufacturers the tools to give consumers anytime, anywhere access to their digital content across a multitude of connected devices, including smartphones, tablets, set-tops and connected TVs.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
