Motorola wins contract in Kuwait

New York Stock Exchange-listed Motorola has entered into a three-year multimillion-dollar contract with Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) Kuwait that seeks to reduce -operating costs.

The deal, for an undisclosed amount, is a managed optimisation services agreement to improve the performance of the operator`s network across its serving area. It covers the ongoing enhancement of the telecom network, and will enable MTC Kuwait to satisfy subscribers` demands for new value-added services, a statement said.

"Relying on Motorola`s managed services is an integral part of MTC`s wider plan to create and roll-out new offerings to its customers in the 21 operations across the Middle East and Africa, and devote staff resources to ," said the statement.

Under the agreement, a portion of which was accounted for in Motorola`s second quarter, Motorola aims to ensure the "optimal performance of the MTC Kuwait network on an ongoing basis," the statement said.

The three-year contract complements Motorola`s 12-year relationship with MTC, which operates in six Middle Eastern and 14 sub-Saharan African countries.

"If MTC is to continue its phenomenal rate of growth, our focus must be on ensuring that our infrastructure continues to evolve to effectively meet business and customer demand. Motorola`s managed optimisation services offering gives a framework to benchmark our performance and stay current with global telecoms technology while lowering our risk," said MTC-Vodafone Kuwait GM Barrak Al Sabeeh.
