Mozilla develops iPhone app

Mozilla is developing Firefox Home, an iPhone application intended to provide easy access to a user's Firefox browsing history, bookmarks and tabs - yet another step in the organisation's attempts to extend pieces of its browser franchise far and wide, reports eWeek.

"We have been working on an application for the iPhone based on the Firefox Sync (formerly Weave Sync) technology," says Mozilla product manager Ragavan Srinivasan.

"This app is called Firefox Home, and it gives iPhone users instant access to their Firefox browsing history, bookmarks and the set of tabs from their most recent browser session."

VMware updates Fusion, Workstation

VMware has updated its Fusion and Workstation products, claiming to offer improvements across the board, states Computing.co.uk.

VMware Fusion 3.1 is a free update for current customers, and promises to increase performance when running Windows on a Mac computer.

"We are excited to deliver the fastest and most reliable Windows on Mac experience available with VMware Fusion 3.1," says Pat Lee, director for personal desktop products at VMware.

iPad takes Flash heat

Time Warner and NBC Universal have told Apple they won't spend the time and money to rework their Flash-friendly video libraries to make them compatible with the iPad, according to CNET News.

Apple's iPad has roared off shelves in the US since its introduction in April, giving the iPod, iTunes, and iPhone creator an ever stronger position in the entertainment and computing industry and helping it move past one-time nemesis Microsoft in market value.

But some say the power has gone to the company's head, and they point to Apple's tussle with Adobe Systems over Adobe's Flash software as but one indication that Apple is drunk on its escalating influence.
