MS, EMC develop ECM

Microsoft and EMC have developed native integration technology for SharePoint Server 2007, as well as the 2007 Microsoft Office system and SQL Server 2005, through a newly announced enterprise content management (ECM) alliance.

CRM Buyer quotes EMC`s VP of product management, content management and archiving John McCormick, as saying the new functionality expands the EMC options available to SharePoint users.

"What this means is that from SharePoint, for example, a user can participate in any process managed by the EMC Documentum platform," he said.

OSS Web content management available

Alfresco Software is readying the final piece of its open source ECM software suite with the unveiling of a preview of its Web content management product, according to ComputerWorld.

Since its founding last year, Alfresco has developed software to handle the management of collaborative documents, records and images as well as e-mail archiving. The company began work on the Web content management system about a year ago, adds the article.

One of the early testers of Alfresco`s software was Virgin Money at its UK branch.

Sun Media to use MediaSpan CMS

Canada`s largest chain of tabloid and community newspapers, Sun Media, will soon be using MediaSpan`s Jazbox content management system (CMS), writes MediaInfo.

The aim is "to create a cross media content delivery system for its over 4 000 local media properties, which include the country`s busiest Web portal".

The system will give the entire company a distributed server environment allowing cross-media searches for stories, photos, graphics, audio and video files across the company`s divisions.
