MS LAR enhances SAM software recognition

Johannesburg, 28 Sep 2007

PC-WARE South Africa, Microsoft LAR and international software asset management specialist, announced the update of its comprehensive interface to enhance software recognition.

"The interface expands the software recognition abilities of our own SAM system tool, SMS and some other software asset management tools in the market," explains Maurice Staal, Managing Director of PC-WARE. "This solution has been developed on demand of our existing customers who require software audits for compliancy and management of their software licences in often complex environments."

Staal adds: "By enabling the connection to PC-WARE's own product recognition database, called DNA, we can provide a more detailed and enriched view to our customers, running Microsoft and non-Microsoft applications. Furthermore, we give them the ability to reconcile their products with their licences to get a compliance overview."

Staal explains: "The added value is PC-WARE's unique DNA database which contains any kind of application available on the open market and is updated on a monthly basis through its international software licensing centre that distributes the updated DNA from all customers and vendors worldwide back to its own customer base, building the most complete library available. So, no need for any manual analysis anymore, which saves our customers and partners time and money."

PC-WARE's DNA also caters for in-house developed applications. Therefore PC-WARE can provide eventually an accuracy of 99.9% in detecting applications.

PC-WARE offers the entire range of lifecycle management solutions, consisting of operational licensing centre, contract management and asset metering. PC-WARE's diversified customers value that they are compliant at any given point and realise cost savings through usage metering.
