MS revamps messaging

Microsoft is rolling out a rebranded version of its hosted enterprise messaging services, formerly known as FrontBridge, reports Today.

It is also offering a new per-user licensing model for all the services in the new package.

Enterprise Hosted Services provides e-mail filtering, storage, and encryption features designed to improve the and availability of messages for large organisations while meeting internal- and -compliance requirements.

Patient communication expanded with SMS

TeleVox Software has introduced SmartText, a text messaging feature now available with its HouseCalls ASP automated messaging and T.LINK online communications systems, the company says in a press release.

Now HouseCalls and T.LINK users in the dental and orthodontic industry can choose from phone, e-mail, text messages or any combination of the three when delivering appointment reminders.

SmartText allows practices to deliver appointment reminders to patients` cellphones up to two hours before their scheduled visit.

Indian jewellery retails via SMS

Idex Online reports that Indian jewellery group Tara is venturing into the domestic market with an innovative marketing approach - jewellery retail via SMS.

Rather than sell through traditional retail methods, Tara is publishing a two page newspaper flyer showing images of the jewellery with SMS codes next to them. Interested customers send an SMS to the company with the code of the item they are interested in and wait for a sales representative to call them back.

Instead of simply shipping the item, a sales person will bring the purchased item to the buyer`s house, along with additional items and encourage the buyer to increase their purchase.
