MS to bring to Android, iOS

(BI) applications to Android and iOS platforms, ITProPortal says.

When Microsoft highlighted its plans to rollout Hadoop big analysis software distributions at the Microsoft SQL PASS Summit, it also revealed its BI software roadmap, which went largely unnoticed.

According to an article on ZDNet, the company plans to bring its BI applications to non-Microsoft platforms in 2012.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is making a bid for the world of big data with a number of new products and announcements, IProgrammer writes.

The details were unveiled at the PASS Summit, where Microsoft corporate VP Ted Kummert spoke about the company's roadmap for helping customers manage and analyse any data, of any size, anywhere - on premises, and in the private or public cloud.

In practical terms, this vision was backed up by details of new BI facilities for SQL Server 2012, a new data analysis component, and an Apache Hadoop-based distribution for Windows Server and Windows Azure.

According to Kummert, Microsoft is committed to delivering interactive and immersive BI experiences to a variety of mobile devices, CMSWire states.

Microsoft plans to support browser-based applications, such as Reporting Services and PerformancePoint on iOS, in the first half of 2012, and touch-based applications on iOS and Android by the second half of 2012.
