MSN SA has redesigned its Web site to allow for quicker page downloads.

The homepage, www.msn.co.za, includes the same features as the international version, such as links to Hotmail, Messenger and the MSN search engine. The difference, says MSN SA, lies in the portals.

Habari Media, South African MSN representative, says the changes followed research into the South African consumer market, which found that local users want an online that is fast, uncluttered and easy to access.

"From the research, we found that people want a Web site that offers more choice, relevance and immediacy. They want to access information when they need it and the homepage meets those needs," says Habari Media MD, Adrian Hewlett.

"Whether people are looking for specific information, chatting or just browsing, it allows them to do so faster than before," he adds. "The site hopes to reach more local users."

The new homepage will roll-out to additional markets, including Malaysia, Austria, Ireland, Indonesia, Singapore, Switzerland and the Philippines over the coming months.

"October is the right time to introduce the homepage before people get busy. We wanted to launch it now for the summer," concludes Hewlett.
