MS's Belikoff heads to Redmond

Johannesburg, 09 Jan 2008

Cyril Belikoff, head of Microsoft SA's information worker business, will leave the local operation at the end of next month.

The well-known evangelist is to take up the role of group product manager of Microsoft's Office line at the company's US headquarters, Microsoft SA says. The job will see him work with some of Microsoft's biggest users of information worker products in the US.

Belikoff has spent over a decade with Microsoft SA, starting as a demonstrator in the community development arena. He was instrumental in the launch of MSN in SA and ran the communications sector business before taking his current position.

Most recently, Belikoff assisted in the launch of products like Microsoft Office 2007 and Office Communications Server.

Microsoft SA MD Pfungwa Serima says Belikoff's move is clear evidence of the world-class talent within the local subsidiary.

"We at Microsoft SA have always been committed to developing our people to the fullest and offering our employees great global career opportunities. Although we are sad to see Belikoff go, we are very proud that we are able to export such great talent to our parent company."

No replacement for Belikoff has been named, with Serima noting he will be difficult to replace as a key member of the local management team.
