MTN Network Solutions (NS), the network division of the MTN Group, has secured a contract to provide South African Breweries (SAB) with Internet access.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but MTN NS CEO Mike Brierley says it is "a significant piece of business".
According to Brierley, MTN NS will displace SAB's previous Internet access provider, Internet Solutions (IS). SAB says this is a "sensitive" issue, as both MTN NS and IS will initially provide Internet access. SAB declines to comment on further details of the contract.
Brierley says MTN NS will begin providing services to SAB in May.
SAB issued the tender in November and various Internet service providers were invited to submit proposals.
"This specific tender is to provide Internet access for SAB SA only," says Brierley.
