MTN SA is addressing billing issues some customers have experienced over the last few weeks.

The company explains that some clients have been over-billed or double billed, thanks to teething trouble caused by its internal billing system upgrade.

Several complaints have been filed about the company's billing across sites like HelloPeter, which exposed MTN's billing trouble at the end of last week.

However, MTN says: "We have put a number of measures in place that are currently correcting the problems some of our customers are experiencing, as a result of our internal system upgrade process. This upgrade was done in order to improve internal billing efficiencies, as well as improve delivery to our customers."

MTN adds it is investing in additional hardware capacity and an improved efficiency programme that will help it solve the trouble customers are experiencing. "These measures will importantly enable MTN to resume its efficient and professional service to all of its customers."

The company says it will investigate each of the billing issues individually and will provide feedback to subscribers once the investigation has been finalised.

“While a number of successes have already been achieved with regard to improving system delays and slow response times, significant other changes will be made over the next months," the company adds.
