MTN says the latest executive to leave its ranks - now former general manager of its branded channel Eleanor Potter - has resigned from the company "to pursue her own interests".

Potter is the third executive-level employee to walk out the company's doors in the space of a month. Nazir Patel, former MTN chief financial officer, resigned with immediate effect on 22 July - a result of an ongoing investigation into allegations made against him by the company.

While MTN would not disclose details of the allegations, reports suggest they have to do with MTN's Iran operations and the flouting of procedures for diverting funds.

Then, last week, MTN suspended its chief corporate services officer, Robert Madzonga, reportedly for authorising R12.3 million in questionable payments to a lawyer.

MTN said it was an internal matter and declined to comment on the context of or reasons for Madzonga's suspension

The operator also confirmed reports that Mike Fairon, general manager of products, services and innovation, was investigated for allegations levelled against him, but these were found to be groundless.
