MTN Network Solutions signs Namibian reseller

By MTN Network Solutions
Johannesburg, 10 Jul 2003

MTN Network Solutions recently signed an agreement with local-based IT consultancy company, e.com institute, to sell MTNNS-related services to its clients in Namibia. The deal will see e.com institute Namibia and TeamCast Africa joining forces to manage existing clients like the United Nations and Bank Windhoek as well as seeking new clients in the region.

Says Cassim Parak, executive director of e.com institute: "Our Namibian office will extend the e.com institute South African solutions and service offerings which include knowledge management, collaboration, business intelligence, data solutions and solutions crafting."

The Windhoek-based e.com institute will be headed by TeamCast CEO and former UN manager Paul Rowney, whose early challenges will include the establishment of offices and a newly inked three-year deal with MTN Network Solutions.

"Providing ISP services is something new for us, but we have always said that the magic of being a true solutions provider is being able to offer different technology to meet our clients` needs, rather than being limited to a certain range of products and boxes," said Rowney.

MTN Network Solutions first established a node in Windhoek to deliver financial information and services to its sister company, I-Net Bridge`s clients, as well as extending branch connectivity to its local networking and VPN clients to their branches in Namibia. The MTN NS node has now been fully enabled to provide MPLS VPN services back to SA and the rest of the world as well as Internet and real-time financial feeds from I-Net.

Says Stuart Hardy, Sales Director for MTNNS: "Identifying the right solutions partner and reseller in Namibia has been a high priority for MTNNS over the last few months. We are therefore excited to establish a relationship with e.com Institute Namibia as it extends a local working relationship that is already in place. The Namibian telecoms market is also one of the better-developed markets in the SADC, which boasts one of the most modern and sophisticated backbone infrastructures in Africa, with fibre optic links connecting the length of the country. This telecoms infrastructure coupled with the e.com solution offerings as well as the MTN NS networking services should make the e.com institute Namibian offering very powerful."
