MTN SP signs two-year deal with Adcheck Mobile

By MTN Network Solutions
Johannesburg, 17 Mar 2005

MTN SP`s Indirect Sales channel has signed a two-year mobile solutions contract, estimated to be worth more than R1 million, with local market intelligence company Adcheck Mobile.

The deal provides MTN SP with access to real-time reporting and information within its sales outlets via Adcheck Mobile`s locally developed intelligence-gathering solution.

"In our technology-driven fast-paced society, mobility is one of the key contributors to a successful business. The handheld system enabled by Adcheck Mobile has increased MTN SP`s productivity and has reduced duplication. It is also ideal and very appropriate to use MTN`s own technology, GPRS, to streamline our business operations," says Steve Tredoux, General Manager, Indirect Sales, MTN SP.

The MTN SP Indirect sales channel utilises MTN SP`s exclusive dealer and retailer distribution network to sell products such as MTN contracts, prepaid handsets, SIM-kits and airtime to the consumer. Adcheck Mobile developed a tailor-made mobile platform based on MTN SP`s specific market requirements. The application, based on the Adcheck Mobile`s .NET territory management solution, provides sales representatives with a mobile application that includes a set of questions applicable to each channel used during store visits such as retailers, dealers or consumers. This information is captured during the visit, using MTN`s GPRS technology in conjunction with the IMate 2020 PDA unit, which is a mobile phone, PDA and camera unit. Once captured, the information is hot synched back to MTN SP`s server and reports are updated automatically. The sales manager can then log into the system via the Web and view the updated reports immediately.

The system has been designed with full control residing in the server to ensure customer data and applications are secure. It also keeps audit information about the mobile devices to ensure no components are removed or lost while in use.

"The Adcheck Mobile solution has enabled MTN SP`s national sales representatives to use an automated online reporting system instead of the previous manual system. As a result, sales managers receive daily reports on productivity and sales related information, ultimately improving overall business efficiency," says Trevor Ahier, CEO, Adcheck Mobile.

According to Tredoux, the system was well received by the MTN SP sales team, which lists a paperless environment, increased professionalism and improved overall business efficiencies as significant advantages.

"Having a national standard with online daily reporting and information-gathering has improved operational efficiencies and the generation of statistical information relating to MTN SP`s business," says Tredoux.

"MTN SP believes excellent customer service can only be achieved by addressing the customer at every level. This system has enabled MTN SP to better address the dealerships and retailers` level in the organisation, which will ensure cellular customer service reaches new heights across SA," concluded Tredoux.
