MTN Uganda has chosen Protek to supply its integrated real-time inventory and network management solution, nexoss Unified OSS, for its ability to address critical network, service and management issues in one, integrated product suite.
MTN is the leading telecommunications company in Uganda, servicing more than 400,000 customers. The company`s fixed and mobile services cover over 90 per cent of the country.
Barbara du Plessis, CIO, MTN Uganda said, "We chose Protek`s nexoss Unified OSS for its breadth of network, service and business management capabilities, flexibility to meet our business needs, and ability to deliver rapid ROI. Protek`s proven ability to manage multi-vendor and multi-technology networks was also crucial.``
MTN Uganda will improve its customer satisfaction levels by minimising network and service problems with Protek`s single, integrated solution. Powerful event correlation capabilities within the nexoss Unified OSS suite reduce the number of network events and alarms that need to be monitored. Consequently, customer service representatives will be able to identify and resolve problems before customers are affected, improving customer service and increasing the exposure to service level agreement penalties.
Protek`s nexoss Unified OSS solution is designed to grow with MTN`s network and service offerings. The suite will also be integrated with the company`s existing Protek Customer Care & Billing platform, providing MTN Uganda with a fully integrated OSS solution.
Mike Kersten, General Manager for Africa and South Asia, Protek, commented, "African operators are amongst the first to quickly learn about the potential business impact of failing to pro-actively identify and manage network events. MTN Uganda has recognised that an integrated OSS solution will enable it to achieve significant competitive advantages and improved customer service enabling it to continue to grow its market leadership in Uganda.``
Protek will also provide full fault, security, inventory, service and configuration management across MTN`s network. nexoss Unified OSS will enable seamless end-to-end management of MTN`s IP, GSM, radio and fixed line networks, integrating complex management systems from multiple vendors.
