MTN Business has rolled out converged ICT solutions to the local small and medium enterprise (SME) sector.

Last week, MTN Business unveiled the retrofitted Gallo Manor data centre, which it expanded in order to offer more managed cloud services and ICT solutions to businesses.

The data centre, which cost R80 million to upgrade, is part of MTN Business' rapid expansion initiatives in support of its growing managed service offerings. The company is now also offering a cost-effective opex pay-per-use model.

The business arm of the mobile network operator says it has released two packages to help small businesses cost-effectively create mini office networks and empower their mobile workforces.

Nomalanga Nkosi, GM for Business Marketing at MTN Business, says: “Business competitiveness is no longer based on the size of the enterprise.

“The SME sector is fast realising that technology investments that enable them to grow in innovation and to provide a distinctive application, is no longer optional; it's essential.”

MTN Business is offering 2G ADSL and 2G mobile data for a fixed monthly cost of R299, or 3G ADSL and 3G unlimited mobile data for R515. According to the telco, these packages will be bundled with an SRP527W Cisco router and a Huawei E367 modem.

According to Nkosi, these are plug-and-play solutions, and SME customers do not have to worry about downtime, as the solutions can switch from ADSL to a GSM connection. MTN Business' promotional offer is available from 31 January until 29 February.
