MTNNS holds free wireless, mobile data seminar

By MTN Network Solutions
Johannesburg, 12 Aug 2004

MTN Network Solutions will host a free wireless and mobile data seminar on 2 September in Houghton, to discuss the current and future technologies that the SA corporate market will be exposed to.

"The technology of mobile networks and wireless solutions is advancing at an incredible rate, which holds considerable potential for corporate SA. The seminar that we are holding, one of many that we have held, is aimed at communicating these technologies and opportunities to the many companies using or planning to use mobility and broadband wireless in their communication strategies," says Mike Brierley, CEO of MTN Network Solutions.

"The seminar will be addressing many different areas of mobility and wireless. This will include where the mobile networks are today and where they will be in a few years time as well as looking at new technologies like WiFi, WiMax and iBurst. In addition, we will review some of the solutions and middleware available to enable real mobility to groupware and data."

"As technical convergence takes place, the IT manager and CTO will be confronted with many large and complex decisions in the future. Foundations of the past communications paradigm will be struck down and cornerstones like the PABX, switched voice and even fixed-line copper, will be questioned and in many instances made obsolete. We hope we can help prepare our clients and others in the market as to what is coming and how these can be harnessed to improve business and lower communication costs," concludes Brierley.
