Multi-domain MDM can add value

Multi-domain (MDM) can provide organisations with substantial value and measurable revenue and margin benefits, states Information Management.

Organisations that are embarking on multi-domain MDM should realise that, no matter which architectural style they choose, the process requires the management of both simple and complex master data objects.

A simple master data object is an instance of a master data domain that exists by itself and a complex data object is a combination of detailed data about several master data objects that exist interdependently, as well as the data regarding the associations and relationships between them.

SOA getting better

Security is not a reason to stay away from SOA, according to Computerworld.

Although full SOA security maturity is yet to come, 30% of organisations now use SOA for external integration with customers and partners.

For standard Web services using simple object access protocol, Web services security has achieved critical mass as a foundational standard.

NetApp takes to the cloud

With the release of Data Ontap 8 and other cloud infrastructure technologies for enterprise customers, NetApp aims to provide a strong foundation for IT as a service, reports The Channel.

Due to increasing pressure on IT budgets, customer dynamics are changing because IT executives must do more for less.

Data Ontap 8 will build upon the existing platform of cloud capabilities with enhanced functionality for virtualised and shared infrastructure environments.
