Local distributor of AIST products, MultiMedia Warehouse , a division of Siltek Distribution Dynamics, member of the Siltek IT supply chain, is offering MoviePack Beta 4 to users at R399. The offer provides full MoviePack functionality for a six month trial period, after which users will have the option of purchasing the full product on its release at a reduced price.

Jaco Laubscher, product manager at Multimedia Warehouse, says prospective MoviePack users have the opportunity to influence the design of the software. "The Beta includes the entire range of functions but is limited to a six-month period of use. During this time testers can offer suggestions regarding the design and functionality of the product - putting AIST in a position to manufacture a product best tailored to the needs of the end user."

The aim of this design process is to enable both beginner and expert video editing users the ease and functionality of a software application that can perform the tasks required. The plug-in host allows the porting of effects from other applications already in the market, such as Adobe's PhotoShop.

Beta users can register at www.aist.com and upgrades can be downloaded from the or installed from CD-ROM. Laubscher says upon installing the product a serial number will be displayed which will enable users to obtain their personal access code, however a fully functional demo of the product is available without the personal access code. Available through its dealer , Multimedia Warehouse is offering Beta users the full product for R2 000 when it is launched, as opposed to the full R8 000 price tag.
