Mustek chairman steps down

Johannesburg, 19 Oct 2009

Mustek's non-executive chairman Wilson Vulindlela Cuba stepped down from the board with effect from Friday, says the computing distribution company.

His position will be taken by Deenadayalen Konar, says Mustek, without giving reasons for Cuba's resignation.

Cuba's directorships include Stanlib, Foschini and Safika Holdings. He is founder and former president of ENSA, the South African affiliate of the Southern African Enterprise that is headquartered in Lusaka, Zambia. He has an MBA, and is also founder and honorary chairman of the Swiss-South African Chamber of Commerce.

Mustek adds that Ralph Patmore has been appointed as non-executive director following the resignation of Michael Hennessy from Friday. Hennessy joined the Mustek board in 1997, after 35 years in auditing.

CE David Kan says: “I would like to thank Vuli and Mike for their contribution to Mustek over the past years and wish them all the best for the future.”

Mustek has a range of brands, for which it has exclusive distribution rights, including Mecer desktops and notebooks, Brother printers, Toshiba notebooks and Fujitsu scanners. Its major clients include corporate, government, parastatals, and a dealer network.
