As part of the R30m refurbishment of Coca-Cola`s head office in Parktown, McKechnie Wright Associates (MWA), the Centurion-based consulting and project management company with a special focus on providing technological solutions, has announced it has been appointed by the main project manager, AUB Projects (AUB), to design and oversee the installation of a structured cabling system worth an estimated R1m.

While AUB was recently awarded the contract by Coca-Cola to revamp the three-building, 11-floor in total, head office complex, MWA was appointed by AUB as the consultants to oversee the replacement of the old cabling system with a sophisticated new cabling system , including the provision of optic backbones.

The implementation is to be handled by cabling specialists, Spectrum Cabling.

Ian McKechnie, director of MWA, said his company designed the new cabling system, as well as acting as the project managers for the sub-contract.

"Our brief was to provide Coca-Cola with a state-of-the-art cabling and communication system - one that will see them well into the next millennium. This includes replacing all the and cabling, which spans three buildings and a total of 11 floors."
