MWEB Business at Futurex 2005

Company to demonstrate latest business offerings at Futurex 2005
Johannesburg, 12 May 2005

MWEB Business, the division of MWEB that focuses on the specialised needs of businesses, will showcase four of its latest offerings at this year`s Futurex exhibition, namely:

* OfficeCall - the first product in its voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) range;
* SafeShop Mobile, the newly launched mobile payment solution;
* Business Server;
* An ADSL virtual private network solution.

"This year`s Futurex is underpinned by a lot of innovation and new developments. It is the first Futurex to take place since the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector earlier this year, and we look forward to using this platform to exhibit some of our latest solutions that address customers` business Internet requirements," says Gary Hart, manager of marketing and products, MWEB Business.

Voice on display

OfficeCall is the first product in MWEB Business` range of VOIP products, and has been designed to reduce the inter-branch telephony charges of businesses with offices operating from two or more locations. It has been developed to integrate seamlessly with existing telecommunications equipment, thereby negating the need for large capital outlays. OfficeCall furthermore offers guaranteed quality of service, is secure and can be scaled to suit the requirements of various sized businesses.

Secure payments: Anywhere, anytime

SafeShop Mobile is the latest offering in MWEB Business` suite of e-commerce products. It extends the functionality of the SafeShop platform to allow a company`s roaming workforce to initiate and receive payment for goods or services via a cellular or fixed-line telephone. Transactions are processed via a secure interactive voice response (IVR) platform, and enables businesses operating from non-permanent locations - such as plumbers and repairmen - to conduct secure transactions from anywhere and receive immediate payment.

All-in-one Internet solution

Business Server was developed in response to the increasing Internet requirements of smaller businesses. It is a secure, easy-to-use, managed Internet solution that provides businesses with connectivity, e-mail and bandwidth management, security services and reporting functionality. The product requires no capital outlay and is particularly suited to businesses wishing to keep a tighter control over Internet-related costs.

Secure, cost-effective VPN solution

MWEB Business` virtual private network (VPN) solution, which utilises ADSL technology, connects an SME`s branches and provides access to company information, business-critical systems, intranets and extranets as well as other applications such as accounting systems. The VPN ADSL solution, which is managed, implemented and supported by MWEB Business, provides a secure and cost effective VPN for a maximum of five branches.

Futurex 2005 is SA`s longest running information and communication technology trade show and opens at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 17 May 2005. For further information on the exhibition, or to pre-register, visit www.futurex.co.za.
