MySpace to offer Skype

MySpace will integrate Skype into its social network by the end of the year, enabling its instant messaging (IM) users to also make free VOIP calls, reports Telecom TV.

The alliance should prove mutually beneficial, giving Skype a boost while providing another weapon for MySpace to use while warding off rival Facebook.

Adding voice service could also spike interest in MySpace`s IM client, which is used by less than a quarter of its 110 million members.

US-based VOIP`s third quarter revenue reached $2.6 million, or 39.3% more than the second quarter, while it reduced its net loss by 44% to $1.2 million, reports Biz Journals.

The company said the net loss in September represented an 80% improvement compared to January and it expects the improvement to continue in October.

VOIP expects November to be the first month the company generates positive cash flow from operations.

Lindy has launched its latest multifunction gadget, an optical mouse with built-in VOIP phone, reports TechDigest.

The gadget comes with speakerphone functionality and a headset for hands-free use, with the mouse remaining fully functional when a call is in place.

Though it looks much like an ordinary mouse, it flips up to reveal a keypad and LCD. Its built-in microphone allows the mouse to be picked up and used like a normal phone handset.
