Nanoteq, a security solutions company, has complimented its existing range of security products with the launch of the IP Granite security suite.
"The IP Granite is a suite of products, that when used together, form a complete security solution for all IP-based communications. IP Granite products addresses the inherent security problem associated with IP by providing two classes of product," says Francois Smit, marketing manager of IP Granite at Nanoteq.
The two classes consist of two end-to-end products and a management product.
On the end-to-end front, IP Granite delivers IP Granite W100, workstation software for Windows 95 and NT, and IP Granite G100, a virtual private network (VPN) software product for Windows NT.
According to Jaco Botha, director at Nanoteq, the product suite offers several advantages. "The uses and benefits of the suite include a secure environment for your intranet, secure connectivity for field staff and home workers, the setting up of a secure intra-office VPN as well as building secure extranets to business partners.
"An added benefit in using the IP Granite suite is that since we are a non-US based company, we can provide very strong encryption without having to worry about the current US export rules."
Botha believes SA security awareness depends on the industry. "The banking industry is a good example of an industry that focuses very highly on security. What companies need to realise is security threats do not only come from local sources, but from international ones as well.
"Security will be at the top of businesses` list of items after the year 2000 issue. Companies should identify the risks according to their corporate profiles and act accordingly," adds Botha.
