Nashua Mobile has appointed the IQ Business Group as its technology partner to roll-out its messaging and data strategy.
The venture with Nashua Mobile will be rolled out through IQ`s office integration and technology arm IQ Works, a joint venture between The IQ Business Group and Reunert, which was formed in August 2000.
The partnership between The IQ Business Group and Nashua Mobile centres on IQ`s multi-protocol gateway, which enables the transfer of content from a company`s backend information sources to any mobile device.
The gateway, combined with a middleware suite, facilitates the delivery of content via a host of bearer technologies, including SMS, Web and fax.
Nashua Mobile, which provides voice and data products and services to all three local cellular network providers, has started using the gateway to leverage a range of value-add products and services around the delivery of data over the GSM network.
Initially involving SMS as a carrier, the services will evolve into more complex mechanisms as carrier technologies and user adoption become more sophisticated.
The company is able to offer data and messaging services through both prepaid and contract billing mechanisms, a position achieved only by some European and Asian players.
Nashua Mobile business development manager Glen Lumley says the alliance with The IQ Business Group provides the technological impetus to bring competitive advantage in the hotly contested cellular market.
