National Brands chooses top business systems brand

Johannesburg, 13 Jul 2004

A quest for high performance capability and excellent functionality in document scanning technology has led to South African fast moving consumer goods group National Brands purchasing 16 Panasonic KV-S2025C colour document scanners through Panasonic-approved dealer ExE-Q Scan.

The units, which are imported and distributed in SA exclusively by NPC (Electronics) Limited (Panasonic), offer hi-tech image processing abilities in a compact machine, effectively making the KV-S2025C a reliable choice for low-volume colour document management solutions.

In addition to high durability (estimated 3 million page scanning capacity) and reliable paper-handling capabilities (across paper stocks from 50 to 127gsm), the unit boasts several advanced technologies, including Colour Automatic Cropping, Colour Automatic De-Skew, Colour Drop Out, Dynamic Threshold, and High Speed Scanning (25ppn). The KV-S2025C is also very easy to maintain - a clamshell opening mechanism allows quick recovery in the event of a paper jam and straightforward end-user roller replacement.

National Brands` Accounts Receivable Manager, Shawn Augustyn, says the units have been put to work in the group`s distribution infrastructure across the country and are used primarily to scan proof of delivery documentation for management information and control purposes. He reports that the group chose the Panasonic scanners for the application based on previous experience.

"We implemented the current system of scanning documentation at the decentralised depots into a central, readily accessible repository about four years ago using an earlier Panasonic model. The machines proved extremely durable and reliable, despite the often dusty operating environments in which they were located," explains Augustyn. "So, when it came time to replace and upgrade the equipment, Panasonic was the natural choice."
