The largest buying group in the country, the Shaw Group, has confirmed its intention to carry Pinnacle Micro`s PROLINE brand of PCs to address growing demand for IT products by the man in the street.
Grant Masterson, sales director at the group, says that as the company represents over 1000 retailers nationwide it is ideally placed to push the PC brand to stores interested in entering this burgeoning market.
"We believe the television, PC, DVD and home theatre market is set to explode. The Shaw Group needs to be positioned for this and so do a select number of our customers. The benefits to be attained will be immense, as they will be able to buy PROLINE PCs at prices they would not have been able to afford if purchased individually," he says.
"Another benefit for retailers is that they will only find it necessary to display stock and then order on demand to meet customer needs. Pinnacle Micro, national distributor and manufacturer of PROLINE, has invested R2 million in an ISO 9002-certified, assembly line at the Midrand head office.
This is aimed at boosting production and overall quality of the PROLINE PC brand to satisfy demand for Build-to-Order (BTO) Proline systems," says Johann van Wyk, manager, Western Cape, at Pinnacle Micro Western Cape. Retailers will also stand to benefit in areas other than pricing. According to Masterson, the Shaw Group offers a comprehensive value-added service which includes training and credit guarantees as well as marketing and advertising campaigns.
Before this can be implemented, however, a number of processes have to be put in place. "First and foremost our dealers will have to be educated. To this regard we have asked Pinnacle Micro for assistance. We envisage that this will take place both on site and at seminars to be held around the country," says Masterson.
