Multimedia Warehouse, a division of Siltek Distribution Dynamics (SDD) and member of the Siltek IT supply chain, has announced the release of US-based Pinnacle Systems' DV500, a real-time native DV nonlinear editing solution for video producers, videographers and consumers at an affordable price.

"DV500 is a real-time, dual-stream, video production system based on the industry standard DV (IEEE 1394 or Firewire) format. It provides users with a native DV editing environment, enabling them to edit and create high-quality video productions on their desktop with standard DV camcorders and VCRs," says Jaco Laubscher, product manager at Multimedia Warehouse.

The product provides simultaneous digital and analogue video with audio I/O, all on a single card. DV500 also includes support for interactive MPEG-2 CDs, and Web video streaming applications. In addition, DV500 includes Pinnacle Systems' new FreeFX, a 3D effects library offered as a plug-in for Adobe Premiere.

"FreeFX offers accelerated, broadcast-quality 2D/3D DVE and transitions with sub-pixel resolution, anti-aliasing, and high-quality filtering, which runs with popular consumer 3D accelerated video cards," says Laubscher. The package also includes Pinnacle Systems' INSTANTVideo that reduces rendering time and overcomes the 2GB file size limit of Windows 98. "Customers can take advantage of the popular DV format with DV and Digital-8 camcorders to capture, edit and deliver digital video on tape, the and a variety of other formats," he concludes.
