Networking solutions provider NBase-Xyplex, says Environmental Manager (EM), its new high-performance environmental and power management solution, enables centralised management and remote control of power and equipment.
The EM family leverages NBase-Xyplex`s expertise in terminal servers by combining it with the ability to control and manage power inputs to remote equipment.
Sally-Anne Pearson, product manager at Comztek, local NBase-Xyplex distributor, says the EM-1600-series allows users to access the console ports of remote devices and manage or monitor their operation. "In addition, they can control the power input for each of these devices forcing them to reboot, or shutdown, if required."
Each power feed from those same pieces of equipment is then also connected to provide power management, thus allowing network managers to recycle or shut down power. "To allow for remote connectivity, the system also has an Ethernet port or optional modem port.
"As networks grow in size and complexity, the need to accurately and cost-effectively manage network devices also grows. The Environmental Manager solution addresses the growing needs of carriers, large enterprise users and networks that include non-traditional networking devices such as satellite relay equipment and voice phone switches," Pearson explains.
"It eases the management and control of remote network components, improving operating efficiency and reducing network downtime," she adds.
