NBS counts with AccountAbility

CS Integrated Solutions, a subsidiary of the JSE-listed CS Holdings group and an Ability value-added , has implemented a pilot installation of AccountAbility, the back-office financial control system which forms part of the Ability suite of business management solutions from JSE-listed Ixchange, at NBS.

According to Ruth Hicks, senior business analyst at NBS, AccountAbility was chosen over six other financial packages because of the functionality native to the product.

Stefan Coetzer, a director of CS Holdings says, "the package had all the features NBS wanted and a few extra. Cost and time to implement was also an issue that needed to be addressed. The NBS users liked the look and feel of the application, making the adjustment to a new package easier."

"The fact that it was a locally developed product with local support from the supplier and developer also counted in AccountAbility`s favour," Hicks adds. "There is no need to wait for patches or updates from America or Europe as the package is developed in South Africa."

Customised development is also easily available with CS Integrated Solutions providing on site support. NBS has requested a custom-developed fixed asset module, which will be included with the standard AccountAbility package in future.

Hicks comments that the implementation went smoothly. "NBS was on a tight time budget, but AccountAbility was implemented within deadline. The users have also found the product easy to use and have experienced no problems."

The only issue NBS came across was interfacing with other general ledger applications, but Hicks notes that the integration problems were overcome quickly. The pilot rollout put AccountAbility on 12 desktops, with the full rollout destined to bring the number of AccountAbility users to 50.
