Hoping to help calm last-minute jitters regarding Y2K fixes in the IT industry, Network Computing Devices (NCD) distributor X-Solutions has announced it will provide a free trial of its NCD ThinPATH Desktop Mirror software to IT managers interested in an extra layer of Y2K insurance for their company`s networked PCs and NCD thin clients.
IT managers may download free enterprise licenses of NCD ThinPATH Desktop Mirror at www.ncd.com/y2k for PCs and NCD ThinSTAR Windows-based Terminals. The software allows IS teams to examine remotely every networked user`s PC configuration and installed applications to find and fix problems that may have eluded the company`s Y2K fixes. This may happen when network users install unauthorised software on their desktop, or when rogue software is introduced by workers using the network remotely. The free trial software is available until January 31, 2000.
NCD is also offering a 20 percent discount for customers who convert to permanent licenses by December 31st of this year.
