NCR captures new market for data warehousing on Windows 2000

By Alison Bull Communications
Johannesburg, 25 Sept 2000

The newest version of NCR Corporation`s flagship Teradata database, version 2 release 4.0 (V2R4), is now available on UNIX MP-RAS, Windows NT, and Windows 2000 operating systems-the first massively parallel processing (MPP) system available on Windows 2000. NCR is exclusively represented here in South Africa by National Systems (NDS), a member of the JSE-listed Fintech group of companies.

Active data warehousing, which allows for more operational use of the data warehouse in day-to-day and minute-to-minute decision-making, is no longer limited to UNIX. With Teradata V2R4, Windows users can have the same powerful capabilities. Teradata V2R4 users on Windows and UNIX are enjoying improved performance, more stringent reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) requirements and support of more complex analytic applications like OLAP and data mining.

"The market for high-end data warehousing on Windows is just taking off and we are seeing a lot of interest in Teradata from companies who want to keep their operations on Microsoft platforms," said Simon O`Hagan, General Manager, Marketing at NDS.

"NCR brings the power of high performance data warehousing to Windows. No one else can do that."
