NCR releases new Module for Data Warehouse Applications

By Alison Bull Communications
Johannesburg, 29 Aug 2000

NCR, world leaders in the warehousing arena, have released their OLE DB Access Module 2.0 - an addition to the commanding load and unload tools already offered by the organisation. The new module was designed to save NCR customers both time and money. This new module is a powerful data movement tool that makes it easy to move information from any OLE DB provider into a customer`s Teradata warehouse without going to intermediate storage. NCR is exclusively represented here in South Africa by National Data Systems (NDS), ma member of the JSE-listed Fintech group of companies.

The OLE DB Access Module has advanced functionality and is an executable dynamic link library (DLL) that imports data from various sources, and returns the data to the Teradata client utility, which stores it in the data warehouse. The Teradata database provides a host of utilities for processing large amounts of data in a batch environment including FastLoad, FastExport, MultiLoad, and TPump. All these utilities have built-in access module support that eliminates the need for intermediate storage units. Customers simply obtain the data by making calls into the access module directly, implemented on a DLL on Windows NT.
