NCR Corporation, represented here in South Africa by National Data Systems (NDS), had won a seven-year outsourcing contract worth approximately US$173 million with Royal Bank of Canada, Canada`s largest financial institution.
The milestone agreement calls for NCR to assume complete operational management of Royal Bank`s self-service network, the largest in Canada, with a current installed base of over 4,700 automated teller machines (ATMs).
Under the agreement, NCR`s Worldwide Customer Services division will provide all maintenance and support services, including first and second-line maintenance, help desk, currency management, cash replenishment, and remote operational monitoring. In addition it will manage the staging and installation of any new ATMs, as well as all changes to the installed base of ATMs as required by Royal Bank. NCR will also manage all consumables such as ATM receipts, expected to be worth an additional $19 million for NCR`s Systemedia division.
"NCR provides many of these services for us today," said Ron McClure, senior manager for Self-Serve Networks, Royal Bank of Canada. "Having NCR manage our ATM operations allows us to focus on our core banking business and overall customer satisfaction. We will also benefit from lower operational costs along with access to the latest technology."
"This strategic partnership with the Royal Bank of Canada emphasises the strength and reach of NCR`s worldwide services," said Simon O`Hagan, general manager, marketing at NDS.
