Nebula has partnered with US-based telecoms expense management (TEM) software provider Asentinel and will use its platform as a basis for its global outsourced TEM service.

An independent South African professional services firm, Nebula has offered an outsourced TEM service locally for the past 10 years, and with a growing international client base, the company has become increasingly interested in expanding globally. Through the partnership with Asentinel, Nebula is making moves towards such an expansion.

“South African companies are expanding globally and in Africa, and overseas multinationals are entering the country - often venturing further into Africa,” Nebula CEO Daniel Nel says.

“Global companies want a single view of their total telecoms expenses, and a single service offering supporting it.”

Nebula's client base, which consists of mostly South African multinationals looking to expand internationally and into Africa, will continue dealing with one outsourced TEM service while enjoying a single view into global telecoms expenses and .

“As a BRICS nation, SA has created increasing complexity in its communications infrastructure due to its advanced network and a truly global scope of business. This partnership between Asentinel and Nebula will allow South African-based multinationals to effectively manage their global networks and wireless environments and potentially save millions of rands in the process,” says Hyoun Park, principal analyst at Nucleus Research.

According to Nel, the partnership will see Nebula continue offering its proprietary software platform but it will do so alongside Asentinel.

A good match

Both parties bring sought-after expertise to the table. Asentinel's experience in the US and European markets will enable Nebula to handle more complex projects, while gaining value from Asentinel's platform.

“We have a clear vision of global TEM and have developed, deployed and continue to enhance our platform and solutions to address the evolving requirements of the market. We are very excited to partner with an organisation of Nebula's experience and reputation,” said Asentinel's VP of business development, Richard Janis.

Nel reiterates this sentiment: “We approached [Asentinel] and are delighted to have been successful, given the close alignment of our business objectives and the value we bring to each other's client base.”

For Nel, the partnership with Asentinel gives Nebula the opportunity to become a leader in the South African TEM market. Nebula can now embed global best practices in the South African market and the advanced platform means the company could expand its TEM capacity into full IT expense management.

“We can offer the best of both worlds - all the benefits of a global TEM solution alongside local expertise and client support,” says Nel.
