Packard Bell, the consumer brand of NEC Computers and one of Europe`s home PC leaders, has introduced a new desktop PC that features the new Intel i865PE chipset to provide home users with enhanced power.
The findings of recent NEC research into creativity reveal that users see technology as a way of increasing their contact and interaction with the world around them. "Using a PC is no longer an isolated, individual activity. Creativity is driving the need to share and communicate with others and has turned the PC into the centre of very social activities," explained NEC Computers (SA) MD Fadi Dayoub.
"It is for this reason that Packard Bell`s new desktop uses a number of new technologies that make creating, sharing and connecting quicker and easier," he added.
The Packard Bell iXtreme features the new Intel i865PE chipset, designed specifically to support the Intel Pentium 4 Processor with Hyper-Threading Technology and Intel`s advanced 800MHz system bus, that delivers enhanced performance, facilitating improved productivity, and richer digital media, gaming and broadband experiences.
Based on the an Intel Pentium 4 at 3GHz processor, the Packard Bell iXtreme is designed for power users who need all the latest technologies - DVD-RW, DDR RAM, 800MHz Front-Side Bus, IEEE-1394, 8X AGP, S/PDIF - to handle power-hungry activities such as producing digital movies, creating Web content, editing digital photos, and streaming Internet video.
An all-in-one digital and video solution, it comes with DVD drive (optional DVD-RW), an nVidia FX5600 128MB graphics card, a SoundBlaster Live! sound card and Diamond Audio Technology speakers. Users have the choice of a 17-inch CRT display or a 15- or 17-inch LCD flat panel display. The Packard Bell iXtreme connects directly to a home cinema system thanks to its TV-out jack and S/PDIF connector with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. It also features four high-speed USB 2.0 ports, two IEEE-1394 connectors, integrated 10/100 LAN networking and a 56K modem.
Packard Bell iXtreme comes with a large collection of software and a top-to-bottom Internet package.
