NEC, Lotus Development target SME market to deliver messaging, collaboration solutions

NEC Computers International today announced an agreement with Lotus Development Corporation to bundle Lotus` messaging and collaboration platform with the NEC EXPRESS5800 Servers to provide an end-to-end solution for the small and medium enterprise (SME) market in Europe and the US.

As a first step in their work together, NEC CI will bundle the NEC EXPRESS5800 Servers with 10 licences for the Lotus iNotes Web Access next-generation Web client and one licence for the Domino R5 Application Server, the leading messaging and collaboration solution. Other Lotus applications will be offered in the bundle later in 2001.

Under this program, called the "Lotus Domino Application Server Bundle", NEC CI will offer integrated messaging and collaboration software with a set of services that help growing companies create secure, interactive business solutions for corporate intranets, extranets and the Internet. With its comprehensive development environment, the Lotus Domino R5 Application Server allows businesses to move beyond static Web sites to create collaborative, e-business solutions with secure workflow and content management features.

Availability The Lotus Domino Application Server Bundle includes one licence for Domino R5 Application Server and 10 Lotus iNotes licences and will be sold through NEC CI`s direct and indirect sales channels. It is available with the purchase of any NEC EXPRESS5800 server, running Windows NT/2000 (available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Dutch and Swedish) or Linux (available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish).

The iNotes licences entitle the user to WebMail, iNotes Access for Microsoft Outlook, and Domino Off-line Services (DOLs).
