NEC Computers (SA) has announced support for Microsoft`s newest operating system for -attached storage (NAS) products. NEC says the Microsoft Windows Storage Server (WSS) 2003 will be included in its updated entry and mid-range NAS solutions, the Storage NS160 and NS420.

"We are pleased to stay one step ahead of our customers` storage demands by offering WSS 2003 pre-configured on our NAS solutions," says Fadi Dayoub, NEC MD. "Our NAS systems can scale to provide full serving solutions when used in conjunction with the WSS, which now offers a volume shadow copy , enhanced file serving performance, and support for multi-path input and output.

"The NEC Storage NS160 is an entry-level solution ideally suited to the small and medium business, workgroup, or remote office because it`s easy to deploy and manage while delivering data security and performance," says Dayoub.

"The NEC Storage NS420 is pitched as a mid-range NAS solution. It`s design facilitates integration into all rack environments and the ability to add either SCSI or Fibre Channel extension units for scalability from 72Gb to 15Tb."
