NEC Computers (SA) has announced support for Microsoft`s newest operating system for network-attached storage (NAS) products. NEC says the Microsoft Windows Storage Server (WSS) 2003 will be included in its updated entry and mid-range NAS solutions, the Storage NS160 and NS420.
"We are pleased to stay one step ahead of our customers` storage demands by offering WSS 2003 pre-configured on our NAS solutions," says Fadi Dayoub, NEC MD. "Our NAS systems can scale to provide full data serving solutions when used in conjunction with the WSS, which now offers a volume shadow copy service, enhanced file serving performance, and support for multi-path input and output.
"The NEC Storage NS160 is an entry-level solution ideally suited to the small and medium business, workgroup, or remote office because it`s easy to deploy and manage while delivering data security and performance," says Dayoub.
"The NEC Storage NS420 is pitched as a mid-range NAS solution. It`s design facilitates integration into all rack environments and the ability to add either SCSI or Fibre Channel extension units for scalability from 72Gb to 15Tb."
