The Nedbank Running Club has partnered with Garmin Southern Africa.

The partnership will see running club members gaining access to Garmin's technology and running watch capabilities.

According to Garmin, the partnership is the perfect opportunity for the brand to cement its commitment to the running market. Garmin believes that its fitness devices, which record an athlete's pace, distance, and heart rate, allow runners to better keep track of their progress, reach a higher fitness level and even prevent over training and injuries.

"Whether you want to use a non-GPS device with a footpod or try out a full GPS-enabled watch, Garmin's range of running fitness watches with help guide you, allowing you to analyse your every move, share your with fellow runners and set on-going goals on Garmin Connect" says Michelle Letcher, head of fitness and sponsorship at Garmin Southern Africa.

As of 2008, Nedbank had established 10 running clubs across the country and two development clubs nationally with more than 3 000 registered athletes. According to Garmin, Nedbank's commitment to running is very similar to Garmin's in that the bank wants to nurture upcoming athletes by providing them with a safe training environment and the necessary tools to enhance their performance.

"It is because of this synergy that Garmin has partnered with the Nedbank Running Club," says Garmin.
