Nedbank suffered a technical setback on Monday, when its online banking system went offline for at least four hours. Some users claim the service was unavailable for the whole day.
"The online banking system suffered a technical error between 7.45am and 11.23am," says Karen Brop, Nedbank e-retail manager.
Brop confirms that during that time Nedbank received about 2 000 calls from concerned clients wanting to know when the service would be online again.
"Nedbank then put up a notification page, stating that the system was down. We advised the help-desk to remind clients to clear their Internet temporary files from their systems. In that way, when the system is up and running again, they would be able to access the service again.
"During the technical glitch, all financial accounts and corporate systems were unaffected," says Brop.
