Neotel drops international rates

Johannesburg, 12 Sep 2012

In what Neotel says is the first of more to come, the fixed-line operator has dropped off-peak call rates to China and India.

The company announced yesterday it has dropped its international consumer call rates to the two countries. Prepaid customers will now pay 25c per minute, and postpaid customers will pay R1 for the first minute, with the next nine minutes free.

Neotel says these rates apply to the off-peak period, from 6pm to 7am - during the week, as well as on weekends and public holidays. “The rates remain the same, whether the call to India or China is made to a fixed-line or mobile telephone. The calls will be billed on the standard per second billing principle.”

Dr Angus Hay, Neotel's head of business development, says further international destinations will be added “in due course”.
