NetActive and Mercantile Lisbon Bank to provide one-stop Internet banking

NetActive, the third fastest growing Internet service provider (ISP) in South Africa has recently concluded a deal that will provide access to the Internet, for clients of Mercantile Lisbon Bank. There are potentially 20 000 clients who could benefit from Internet banking and discover the convenience of banking on the Internet.

This deal forms part of Mercantile Lisbon Bank`s new offering BANKability. BANKability will provide clients with direct access to their personal bank accounts via the Internet or a modem-to-modem link, using a Windows-based product.

Mercantile Lisbon Bank clients who are as yet not linked to the Internet will be provided with a NetActive and Mercantile BANKability starter kit that contains all the necessary software. NetActive is known for its user friendly starter kits which make connecting to the Internet as easy as possible.

Alan Greenstein, chief operating officer at Mercantile Lisbon Bank says, "Clients will not have to come into the bank to acquire the BANKability software. The starter kit will simply be delivered to their homes or businesses and loaded by a consultant to get the subscriber started. "

The key benefits for clients will be extended banking hours in the comfort and safety of their homes. For businesses wishing to pay wages and salaries they will be able to credit employee bank accounts. Additional benefits are reduced administration and no queuing at banks.

Mercantile Lisbon Bank is confident that this could reduce or even eliminate cheque writing and subsequent cheque fraud, for clients who use the system.

NetActive will offer a 30 day trial period for new clients who can use the time to familiarise themselves with the Internet and what NetActive has to offer.
